Disability Advocacy and Paralympic Hopefuls

MK Annisa

Hi. I am Annisa from Indonesia. I am very happy to be on this program! It does not feel like we have already been in Chicago for one week. I am very happy to have many experiences so far.

Today, I met Mary Kate Callahan who discussed how she advocates for disability rights and how she can became a USA Paratriathlon athlete. She also shared how sport has brought so many good things to her life. It was so amazing to meet her and made me more excited to practice and train back at home.

My goal: to meet her again in Tokyo 2020!

Hello, my name is Aidana and I am from Kyrgyzstan. Today, we met with Access Living, an organization that helps people with disabilities fight for their rights and are thinking on how to bring an organization like this to our countries.

We also learned how to dance samba at Chicago SummerDance in Grant Park. We all had a lot of fun and for me it was a huge surge of emotions. We laughed for a long time and didn't want to leave! We will remember this day for a long time.
